Some warm weather impressions

Such as...

- Sitting at an outdoor cafe with friends, enjoying a Weinschorle (Riesling with a splash of sparkling mineral water) in the market square. Behind us is the sun-sparkling fountain; looming over us is the historic Stiftskirche; and a dog naps on the cobblestones at my feet.

- Walking home at 8 o'clock in the evening and it's still light outside. Kids whiz by on their bikes; laughter filters from some back garden where a family is grilling; roses scent the sides of the sidewalk; and as I pass the Pauluskirche (Paul's Church), the choir is practicing.

- Going for a long hike in the hills around Neustadt. (Here are some pictures!)

- Meeting friends at a Biergarten across from the Cathedral square in Speyer. The blooming chestnut trees overhead are hung with lights, the evening breeze is cool, the company and conversation are stellar, and the food is good.

I love Germany.

I've heard of this place (Germany, that is), but I've heard mixed reviews about the Germans there. However, your account seems overwhelmingly positive. Perhaps I'll consider learning their language - maybe go over there. Who knows? Maybe I could like it enough to teach it to a bunch of shitheads who could care less some day. Awesome! ;-)

What beautiful pictures! Thanks for taking us along. While you were strolling through the Pfalzerwald Shauna and Amy were biking around Lake Union. Waaa! I miss green! Hmm...have I said that a time or two? Well, let me say it again! I can certainly see the majesty of the desert southwest but, even after living here for 14 years, I have never fallen in love with it. I miss green. Lots and lots of green all around. And BTW, I miss you too!

We're finally getting green, but we miss you, too!!! Are the sights and smells giving you flashbacks? It's so cool when you're transported right back to being a happy 7-year-old. :-) lots of hugs from all of us!

"Oh, may I go a' wandering...
Until the day I die.
And may I always laugh and sing...
beneath God's clear blue sky."

Thanks for another great escape.... Ahhhhh.

Yesterday was a hoot! We put seedlings and seeds, and strings, and dirt, and water, and hoses, and seed-packets, and more water, and feet, and sticks, and worms in our new vegetable garden. On the funny side, I even got accidentally hosed backwards by Katie until I toppled over the fence in a big muddy heap on the ground outside the garden.
Today I'm a tad sore and baked, but the joy on those little faces will stay with me forever.

Life is good. =o)

Wish you were here....

Or we were there....

Love you!!

Aww, it sounds so lovely... yes, Shauna and I did indeed have a lovely bike adventure riding around Lake Washington on Saturday (she went around Lake Union with Steve on Sunday). Man, I want to see Trier now...
