Sigh.

Shouldn't they both be campaigning against McCain...?

It's been a long time since we've had such a strongly contested primary season. In every election within recent memory there has been one candidate who has outrun the other party hopefuls much earlier in the race, as happened on the Republican side. So we've come to expect that kind of a nomination process. This time, though, we have 2 really strong democratic candidates who both feel he/she is the best hope for the party in the fall. This democratic primary may very well go all the way to the convention before the party nominee is decided. Although that would be very exciting for political junkies it could very well be disastrous for the party. Party conventions are traditionally held in July but the DNC, for some reason, decided on August this time around. If this race goes all the way to the convention floor it would mean that the eventual nominee will lose an entire month in his/her efforts to reunite the party and bring back into the fold those democratic voters whose candidate lost the party nomination. The risk is not that they would vote Republican, but that they would stay home and not vote at all rather than vote for the person who knocked their candidate out of the race. Look at how much time John McCain has already had to woo back all of those Republican voters who supported his opponents in the earlier primaries. That's the big worry as this democratic fight drags on. That said, though, there are still somewhere around 10 states that have not held their primary elections yet. And, when you think about it, shouldn't we ALL get to feel that our vote counts?
Sorry, didn't mean for this to be so long but you know me.....

This was about the same feeling I had... I'm not sure I can stand to watch this again. But, the problem is, I do care, so I can't help but watch...
