Sarah with her secret ingredientsSeptember 18th is my stepmom's birthday -- and although she's been my stepmom for the last thirteen years, it's still weird to attach that title to her. Sarah is more like an aunt, or your cool big sister. She's also an amazing mom to Katie and Chloe, a sorcerer in the kitchen, and the one person I know who honestly, truly thinks about everyone else before she thinks about herself. We just had a great visit together for a couple of weeks this month, and I miss her already. :( Happy birthday, Sarah -- I hope it was a wonderful day, and that you enjoyed whatever you were woken up to eat! ;)

Thank you! I miss you, too, Nikki! It was a great day. ...and though I was doing the waking for breakfast on this school day, I did get a wonderful culinary treat: a bite of hot dog at Chloe & Katie's school open house, where we spent the evening. Exactly my kind of celebration! :-)
I just noticed, Mary Engelbreit and Clint Eastwood side by side -- what a match! ha ha!
